Creek Show
Type: Light Installation
Location: Austin, Texas
Size: 30’ Radius
Year: 2017
“Deep Curiosity” was a temporary light-art installation designed to reframe a forgotten corner of Austin’s urban fabric. Situated along Waller Creek between 5th and 6th Streets—where concrete retaining walls meet still water—the project offered a glimpse into a more complete and activated future for the site. A glowing, circular aluminun form was partially submerged in the murky pool, hovering like a relic from a future civilization. Its continuous ring—lit from within by carefully integrated LEDs—evoked a sense of wholeness and spatial possibility.
The installation played with balance, light, and illusion. Half above water and half below, it asked viewers to imagine a future where the creek isn’t neglected infrastructure but a cultural thread through the city. Deep Curiosity invited delight and reflection, using minimal geometry to spark a larger vision for Waller Creek.
